The evening’s program: Gold Country Wildlife Rescue’s Deb Kirkpatrick on Hummingbirds

For the past 21 years, Deb Kirkpatrick has poured her heart into serving as a dedicated, licensed volunteer with Gold Country Wildlife Rescue. Specializing in hummingbird care, Deb rehabilitates a countless number of these tiny dynamos every single year across Placer, Sacramento, Nevada, and El Dorado counties. She lovingly refers to them as the “test pilots” of the bird world because of how they maneuver like no other creature, bringing pure magic to the air. In her presentation, Deb shares a fascinating, up-close look into the complex lives and fragile realities of these incredible birds. Her talk covers fun an interesting facts, will answer frequently asked questions, and give insight into common illnesses and environmental dangers. Most importantly, you will walk away with actionable steps to help us live side-by-side with our local wildlife and protect these magical creatures in your own backyard.
