Sandhill Cranes at Staten Island & Cosumnes River Preserve

We will meet at 3:00 pm at the Cosumnes River Preserve Visitor’s Center parking lot, 13501 Franklin Blvd, Galt. If you’ve never been to this area, then you are missing one of the great bird concentrations in the Central Valley. This area attracts large concentrations of Tundra Swans, Sandhill Cranes, Snow Geese, Greater White-fronted Geese and more. The movement of large birds to evening roost spots is very dynamic, especially if there is a good sunset. Bring food to munch on and warm drinks—dress for wind and cold. Carpooling is highly encouraged—number of cars will be limited. Contact the trip leader if weather is questionable or you have questions—rain will definitely cancel.
