Meet just outside the treatment plant gate at 10984 Riata Way, Auburn (but actually in Nevada County). The LOP WWTP is probably the closest thing to a wetland refuge in western Nevada County with its ponds and Magnolia Creek bordered by oak woodlands and pastures. Expect waterfowl, wading birds, winter songbirds, and often a surprise visitor. Easy, flat walking. Call if in doubt about the weather.
Come join our Great Backyard Bird Count community bird walks for a morning of enjoying, counting, and learning about birds and their identification by sight, sound, and behavior. Our data will be submitted to an international database for use by researchers.
