Hi all you bird lovers. It’s just about time for another “For the Love of Birds” workshop, this one being held in Nevada City at the Madelyn Helling Library.
The Education Team wants to hear from you about the birds you are seeing in your yards or neighborhoods, or wherever you walk. Perhaps we can help you identify more of the birds with our helpful hints about size comparisons, general overall appearances, or brilliant color schemes, and what time of year those birds are likely to be seen here in Nevada and Placer Counties. We will also delve into the different sounds the birds make and how to recognize who’s who by the songs they sing and the calls they make.
In addition, we will have a segment about the things you can do in your yard or on your property to create a habitat that is more enticing to our feathered friends—including things that might bring them in closer for your viewing pleasure. There are certain things that all birds need in a habitat where they can thrive, and perhaps raise their young.
The final portion of the gathering will be spent mingling at tables spread around the room talking with our Education Team members and SFAS Board members to get even more hints and tricks about identifying your friendly birds. And of course, we would REALLY like to know what topics you might be interested in learning more about at future For the Love of Birds workshops. As usual, there will be some snacks available to hold you over until dinner time.
