Cosumnes River Preserve is a wonderful venue for easy, flat walking trails. The flooded fields attract a wide range of dabbling ducks. Greater White-fronted Geese, Sandhill Crane, Longbilled Dowitcher, Wilson’s Snipe, and yellowlegs should be present. Behind the Visitor’s center is a nice trail bordering wetlands that provides for passerines and more water birds. Meet at the Indian Hill Park-n-Ride on I-80 west of Auburn at 8:00 AM. Take I 80 West to the Indian Hill/Newcastle Rd. Exit. Turn left to go over the freeway. The Park-n- Ride will be on your left. It takes about an hour from there to get to Cosumnes.
